Winners announced in first round of photo contest

- Entries for second round still being accepted

VANCOUVER, BC – Rocket Rally Racing has announced the winners of its Rallye de Quebec Photographer’s Contingency Program. The first-place prize of $100 went to Jean-Francois Coulombe, second place went to Jean-Michel Gastonguay and third place went to Michel Lavallée.

"It was really very hard to choose just three photos. We had a surprising number of great submissions, and many came from true hobby photographers," said Pat Richard, Rocket Rally Driver. "It came down to choosing the photos that combined good action with the enthusiasm of the Quebec rally fans and the Quebec winter rally experience."

"Once the originals are received from the photographers, the cheques will be cut. The winning photos will be posted on our website when it’s launched."

Rocket Rally Racing is still accepting submissions for round two of its contest, open to photographers and fans who attended Rallye Perce-Neige February 11 and 12 in Maniwaki, Quebec. The deadline for photos from Rallye Perce-Neige is February 28. All submissions must be sent to photos@rocketrally.com or to 1409 Pendrell St., Vancouver, BC V6G 1S3.

About the program

The Photographer’s Contingency Program awards prizes of $100, $50 and $25, respectively, for the first, second and third most spectacular photographs of the Rocket Rally Car, a black 1998 Subaru Impreza RS, supported by Specialty Subaru of North Vancouver and by Dragon Eyewear.

Photos must be submitted to the team within two weeks of each qualifying rally, either by emailing a reproduction to photos@rocketrally.com, or by mailing the original to Rocket Rally Racing. Emailed submissions are preferred. Rocket Rally Racing encourages photographers to submit multiple entries, and individuals are entitled to win multiple awards. Photographers will be given credit if their photos are used. All entries become the property of Rocket Rally Racing. Winning entrants, once contacted, must send in negatives for scanning in order to be eligible to receive prizes.

This program is in effect for all events Rocket Rally Racing attends in the 2000 Subaru Canadian Rally Championship and in the 2000 SCCA ProRally Championship. The team’s next event is the Oregon Trail ProRally, April 14 to 15 in Tillamook, OR.
